UPDATE: Carson-Midway Fire


The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office will continue to provide traffic control points and monitoring the area of the Midway Ranch in Pueblo County in response to the wildland fire burning in the area.

The fire, which started in the southeastern portion of Fort Carson’s training area, has consumed approximately 2,100 acres in Pueblo and El Paso counties.

Approximately 100 Pueblo County residents living in the Midway Ranch area remain on evacuation orders as crews continue fire suppression efforts. An evacuation center remains open at the Fountain Valley Baptist Church, 500 Alabama Avenue in Fountain for all evacuees.

A large animal shelter will remain open at the Colorado State Fairgrounds. Residents taking animals to the shelter are asked to use Gate 6, located on Small Avenue. Small animals are being accepted at Pueblo Animal Services, 4600 Eagleridge Blvd.
