High Tech Crimes Unit -Internet Fraud

Theft is theft, even if the subject lives halfway across the world!

Fraud is using deception to obtain money from people. The Internet, with all its possibilities for anonymity, provides abundant ways for engaging in all types of criminal activity, but particularly fraud and theft. For examples, criminals use auction sites to advertise merchandise that does not exist. Unsuspecting victims send payment only to receive nothing in return

If you are able to identify who may have possibly defrauded you, and that person does not live in Pueblo County, you will want to contact the police department or sheriff’s office where the suspect lives and file a full report with them. While we will not open an operational case, Pueblo High-Tech Crimes Unit is available to local law enforcement agencies to assist with the technical aspects of any computer-related crime. We have worked many cases with other agencies in Colorado, and other officers throughout the nation.

You should also contact the Internet Crime Complaint Center. The IC3's mission is to address fraud committed over the Internet. IC3provides a convenient and easy-to-use reporting mechanism that alerts authorities of a suspected civil or criminal violation. You can also report terrorist activity at this site.
